Kona Cleaners has been in the dry cleaning
business since 1950. It is owned and operated by Bobby Patel who
has been the owner since 1995. Bobby is the current Vice President
and Orange County Board of Director for the California
Cleaners Association, he also serves on the board of So
Cal Cleaners Association.
Community
Bobby isn't just all business. He devotes much of his time in community
activities. He has been active in the So Cal Cleaners Association's
annual "Coats For Kids" -- a clothing drive where
the Association cleaned over 20 thousand lbs. of used clothing &
distributed them to the needy.
Business Philiosophy
Bobby's training as an engineer developed his passion for technology.
He believes that the more you automate the day to day drudgery of
repeated movements, the more you will succeed. "Let automation
do the tedious work and put skilled associates to the final touches",
he says, "... workers are partners in every successful business."

Employee training is extremely important. It benefits the business
as well as his clients because it improves quality.Training ensures
on-time deliveries and minimizes mistakes. One of Kona's
unique machineries is the Metalprogetti Assembly System.
This sophisticated system sorts, assembles & puts poly film
on every garment flawlessly. This tech investment also cuts payroll
by 2 employees who are now utilized in more challenging roles as
in quality control because some aspects of the business still requires
human intervention -- like checking for missing buttons. (Lets face
it, there is no technology that checks for loose buttons).
